Do your clients face legal problems? Do they ask about their rights at work or as tenants? Do they ask for help with family matters like divorce or separation?
Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) and the Ontario Library Association (OLA) have developed an 8-week, online course to help build your skills and confidence in helping your clients with these types of problems. This course was initially developed with support from The Law Foundation of Ontario.

As a participant in the course, you will watch a series of short, engaging video clips that explore the role of front-line and community workers in helping people with legal problems and offer tools for providing reliable legal information and legal referrals. Legal experts in housing, employment, family, and consumer law will then discuss some of the most common problems you might hear about, and give suggestions on helpful information and referrals you can provide in response. You will complete quizzes and short written responses throughout the course and receive personalized feedback from instructors. When you finish, you will receive a certificate as a Legal Information and Referral Specialist.
The course can be completed in your own time, over an 8-week period. Most participants will spend 1-2 hours per week on the course. The course will run from September 30, 2019 through November 24, 2019.
Registration is now open and will be capped at 30 participants. In order to encourage enrollment from participants across the province and from multiple sectors, we can only admit up to two people per community organization for this offering of the course. The course will be offered again in future.
