Webinar: Accessibility and the Law

Date:
January 21, 2020 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
Online Event:
Yes

Description:

OCASI - Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants invites you to participate in Creating Inclusive Spaces for Immigrants and Refugees with In/Visible Disabilities: A Webinar Series for Frontline Workers.

The settlement process can be especially challenging for newcomers with in/visible disabilities. This series of webinars allows the opportunity for frontline staff to learn and discuss how they can better serve immigrants, refugees and newcomers living with visible and invisible disabilities by understanding implicit biases, the different ways in which we understand disabilities, laws and their implications in practice, as well as good and best practices.

Webinar 3: Accessibility and the Law

Let's move beyond the AODA, and the mandates needed to create accessible spaces. We will be introducing the various international, national and provincial laws that are in place and how they can impact the lives of people living with visible and invisible disabilities, with an important discussion on how to best support colleagues and clients.

Presenter:

  • Arvind Sookwah
  • Pilar Guandique
