Webinar: Learning About Barriers

January 28, 2020 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
Online Event:

OCASI - Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants invites you to participate in Creating Inclusive Spaces for Immigrants and Refugees with In/Visible Disabilities: A Webinar Series for Frontline Workers.

The settlement process can be especially challenging for newcomers with in/visible disabilities. This series of webinars allows the opportunity for frontline staff to learn and discuss how they can better serve immigrants, refugees and newcomers living with visible and invisible disabilities by understanding implicit biases, the different ways in which we understand disabilities, laws and their implications in practice, as well as good and best practices.

Webinar 4: Learning About Barriers

This webinar will explain the ways in which our social structures impact accessibility for newcomers living with in/visible disabilities. We will hear from a peer/frontline worker who will discuss ways in which barriers and ableism can impact the lives of immigrants living with disabilities and their families.
