Responsibilities:

  • Prepare various funder’s reports and monthly management financial statements
  • Recognize and allocate revenues, cash receipts to appropriate general ledger account, and prepare all month-end adjustment entries with appropriate supporting documents
  • Reconcile various month-end sub-ledgers with GL and investigate account variances and discrepancies
  • Scrutinize all general ledger accounts, provide insight and various financial analysis, monitor agency expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Participate in year-end closing, prepare year-end external audit schedules, and respond to various queries and requests from external auditors
  • Assist in funder’s financial monitoring process and prepare supporting documents
  • Administrator and monitor online banking facility, agency credit cards
  • Maintain and improve the Chart of Accounts to ensure reporting effectiveness and efficiency
  • Assist in identifying, designing and implementing financial processes to ensure financial system and control are effective and efficient through the Agency
  • Assist in preparing financial budgets, cash flow forecasting, and charity return
  • Perform bank reconciliation, manage finance’ petty cash
  • Perform backup duties for payroll and other financial functions as required
  • Other tasks assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Commerce or Business degree with a major in Accounting or Finance from an accredited program and institution
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive financial and accounting experience with a minimum 3 years of financial reporting experiences; previous working experience with various industries is preferable
  • Expertise in QuickBooks
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is required
  • Knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organization
  • Knowledge of Not-for-Profit Organization legislation and payroll related reporting requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal in English
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with various cross-functional groups and management levels
  • Ability to manage high-level confidential information
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively and professionally at all times
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
