Responsibilities:

  • Conducts needs assessment utilizing Common Assessment Techniques
  • Assists clients to establish a clearly defined and effective course of action to accomplish short and long term goals within established timelines
  • Facilitates referrals to other programs as appropriate
  • Liaises with other government and non-government agencies
  • Monitors and supports client through case management approach
  • Organizes networking and information sessions with community partners and employers
  • Provides itinerant services to community agencies as necessary
  • Organizes outreach strategies to increase community awareness of Navigation to the Canadian Labour Market program
  • Any other related duties assigned complementary to the job
  • Reports to Executive Director or his/her designate

Qualifications:

  • Degree/diploma in social service or recognized diploma in Employment Counseling or similar with a minimum of 3 years working experience in employment support sector
  • Working knowledge of effective job search strategies and evaluation
  • Ability to guide and help clients in their independent decision-making process
  • Knowledge of the immigration process and resources available in Peel region and beyond
  • Ability to work independently and co-operatively and a team player
  • Excellent communication inter-personal skills, planning and time management skills
  • Excellent Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and iCARE
  • Fluent in English and professionalism in reports writing including statistical data
  • Flexible to work evenings or weekends if and when required
  • Police Record Check for Vulnerable Sector, at your own expense, is required as part of the hiring process
  • Must own vehicle and a valid driver license, and liability insurance that covers your vehicle to be used for job related travelling as needed.
