Willowdale Community Legal Services is seeking applications for the position of Community Development Worker.  This is a two-year contract position with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. The position is available immediately.

This position provides community development, organizing and outreach services to low-income members residing within the catchment area of our legal clinic. The position involves engaging with community members, organizations and agencies that provide services to members of our community.  The position also involves data collection, research, training as well as working with WCLS staff and the staff of other legal clinics on law reform initiatives and activities. The position requires travel within Toronto and may require work to be performed outside of normal 9 am to 5 pm office hours.

Qualifications for the position:

  • Relevant post-secondary education

  • Experience in community organizing and community outreach

  • Superior time management and planning skills

  • Excellence in communication and computer skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Assets will include:

    • Prior experience in a local community agency or legal clinic

    • Fluency in a second language.

The successful candidate must have a strong ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and have good organization and computer skills.  This position requires someone who is reliable, well-organized and a team player.

Salary Range:  $45,000-55,000 / year.
