Skills for Change provides multi-sited employment, job skills, career exploration through mentoring and entrepreneurship, job development, and language and settlement programs and services throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas.

Program Nature and Scope:

The support and needs of newcomers is constantly changing. As Skills for Change continues to support newcomers and meet their evolving needs, it is imperative that we build upon innovative ways to serve them. In order to achieve this, Skills for Change has created Employer Engagement & Partnerships department that is dedicated to strategic partnership development with employers and external partners across sectors. Through Employer Engagement & Partnerships team, Skills for Change aims to establish meaningful and sustainable relationships with existing and new employers, corporates and cross-sector leaders who can provide our clients with opportunities to build their skills, knowledge and networks so that they can be successfully integrated into Canadian job market. Employer Engagement & Partnership team will continue to build and strengthen Skills for Change’s brand as the leading skills training and workforce development organization for immigrants and refugees in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

With a professional background in corporate relations, experience in marketing and communications and strong interpersonal skills, this role will:

  • Support key current employer and corporate accounts and facilitate knowledge sharing and distribution to ensure ongoing engagement
  • Assist in the identification of new key employer relationships, establishing those relationships, and identifying ways to grow those relationships
  • Ensure that the team has full awareness of the key account activities, including regular tracking, formal reporting and regular updates to the Manager
  • Acts as SME for industry and functions, sharing best practices, tools and other firm resources to networks

Reports to: Supervisor of Employer Engagement and Community Services


Specific Accountabilities:

Account Strategy, Planning and Management

  • Coordinates employer accounts, which include detailed plans, industry and account business issues and an ongoing pipeline of opportunities through prospecting
  • Establish new employer contacts and through outreach activities such as cold calls, targeted mailings, and employer visits to determine employer needs
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the Agency’s corporate priorities and conducts market research accordingly
  • Provides guidance and facilitates the development, strategy and execution for both internal and external key meeting deliverables
  • Tracks, measures and reports regularly on Employer Engagement goals and objectives
  • Maintain a working knowledge of local and national employment market trends and their impact on the sector

Relationship Management

  • Facilitates relationship building with existing and new employer and corporate partners
  • Develops a strong understanding of services and solutions to determine which initiatives would be of relevance and importance to key employers and corporate partners
  • Attends relevant networking events and programs, and develops partnerships with industry associations
  • Work on a regular basis with all SfC program staff to understand program needs as they relate to employer engagement

Comunications, Event and Administration

  • Shares best practices across internal networks and advocates sharing of resources and tools, specifically with digital marketing engagement
  • Coordinate and implement departmental and/or Agency-wide events, including job and career fairs, information sessions, networking events and other events geared towards employer and corporate engagement with the Agency
  • Support Marketing with designing and promoting corporate and employer events and activities
  • Ensure all documentation and reporting is completed on a monthly basis on database and software and uploaded onto Google Drive, Salesforce, CaMS or other database and software tools
  • Attend all mandatory team meetings and training sessions


  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant work experience, preferably as an account lead or corporate relations industry, including sales experiences, corporate recruiting, or working with career services, human resources or business administration
  • Experience service coordination and/or project management in collaboration with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience conducting market research, analysis, and identification of target markets. Knowledge of industry career options, trends and opportunities
  • Demonstrated history of being self-motivated and cultivating mutually beneficial relationships, including ability to engage and develop sustainable relationships with individuals/employers from different industries
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Experience planning, coordinating and executing events required
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, presentation, problem solving, critical thinking and superior client relationships management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, anticipate problems, forecast outcomes with tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekend throughout the year to attend employer or related events at various locations
  • Must possess a professional demeanor with exceptional organizational, administrative, professional communication skills
  • Proven experience with managing and tracking data, utilization of LinkedIn, and other social media tools

Contract type: Contract (Union)
Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday, with occasional evening and/or weekend hours)
Pay rate: $21.00 per hour
Location: 791 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto
