Position Summary

The Director, Career and Women’s Services, will oversee the operation and implementation of a variety of programs and services including client career-development services with additional focus on Achēv’s Women’s pillar. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Programs & Services, the Director will work with team leads who are responsible for managing the daily operations of each project ensuring program success, strong client outcomes, employee engagement, and compliance with company and funder requirements. The Director will work collaboratively with other members of the Director team to contribute to, and implement, strategic goals and action plans utilizing their expertise and experience in career and women’s services. The Director will provide leadership, continuous improvement strategies, key stakeholder relations and support to succeed in achievement of our vision and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Champions the Achēv vision, mission and goals including the OneAchēv Culture, OneTeam collaboration and OneClient approach
• Oversees the successful implementation of all projects within their portfolio including completion of program activities in accordance with set targets on time and within budget
• Ensures compliance with all company policies, funder requirements and contracted services agreements
• Directs, develops, and manages programs budgets and monitors project cash flows, spending and slippage and resolves financial issues through liaison with the Finance Department and the Senior Vice President
• Develops partnership agreements, and works with others to ensure partner/supplier accountability, documentation and appropriate invoicing
• Conducts project set-up activities and supports facilities and operational planning
• Oversees preparation and submission of all project reporting as required by funders
• Directs the process of recruitment, selection, relocation of departmental staff
• Completes required human resource activities (payroll, vacation/sick leave reporting, performance appraisals, staff development.) for direct reports and oversees these activities for indirect reports on team.
• Develops beneficial partnerships in consultation with strategic partnerships team and maintains positive relations with partners and community groups
• Participates in, or assigns staff involvement with, community network groups
• Directs program outreach and the promotion of services
• Assists the Senior Leadership Team in the development and promotion of Achev’s new Women’s Pillar
• Works in collaboration with other Achēv Departments and Management teams to enhance client service and promote further project development
• Completes project renewal preparation activities including review of objectives/milestones, budget, technical requirements, statistics, background information, and rationale for proposed changes as required
• Assists in the development of new business opportunities and prepares proposals or development plans to drive business growth in conjunction with Business Development.
• Participates in and contributes to organization-wide strategic committees and activities
• Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate University Degree or College Diploma with a minimum 5 years previous management/administration experience with a variety of government funders
• Project management certification or experience preferred
• Minimum 10 years combined experience working in a community service capacity with women, newcomers and employment-related services
• Strong knowledge of issues that face women and racialized groups as well as employers in relation to employment and workforce development needs.
• In-depth knowledge of community and business services, local networks, local labour market trends and services that relate to the needs of economically-disadvantaged groups including women, youth, and newcomers.
• Experience in marketing and outreach directed towards women, newcomers and employers
• Experience delivering presentations/workshops and managing in-person and online events
• Demonstrated strength in motivating, coaching, problem solving, decision making, hiring and staff development.
• Computer proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Office, funder portals, databases, HR and financial systems, etc.
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and a diversity, equity and inclusion perspective
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Experience in budgeting, cashflow forecasting, financial management and accountability
• Demonstrated commitment to innovation and adaptability
• Drivers’ licence and access to a vehicle
• Ability to work evenings, weekends on occasion as necessary
• A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check is required

This position is a hybrid work role including a minimum of 2 days in office (Mississauga)
