Summary:

Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a settlement agency providing a range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status. CCS is seeking a full-time Employment Access Liaison to provide assessments, coaching and employment support to newcomers to meet their employment needs. The role will be part of the Service Delivery Improvement (SDI) project “Effectiveness of Online vs In-person Delivery for Occupation-specific Language Training”.

The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a rapid pivot to online service delivery, creating opportunities while also exacerbating challenges for some newcomers in accessing services. With this project CCS, in close collaboration with the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), will implement a research study on the effectiveness of online vs in-person delivery for occupation-specific language training. There currently exists a lack of evidence on which service modality, online or in-person, works well for newcomers with different characteristics, and this project will help address this evidence gap.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct client assessments and develop individual employment plans based on agreed upon goals
  • Work with Project Coordinator to and project team to facilitate assessment and evaluation activities to achieve and enhance project outcomes
  • Develop and execute outreach plans and promotional materials to promote the program and recruit participants
  • Provide individual and group coaching and support to clients related to their employment needs
  • Develop, implement and evaluate activities geared to meet the pre and post-employment need of clients
  • Provide information on current licensing requirements and processes
  • Ongoing support and follow up with clients through active case management
  • Review clients' employment action plans and update / revise as needed
  • Conduct evaluation of workshops and training sessions
  • Provide internal and external referrals as required
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and program files
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely statistical, financial and progress reports as required
  • Support Project Coordinator and Manager in ensuring funder's contractual obligations are met
  • Conduct continuous research on employment trends relevant to the Canadian Labour Market
  • Provide recommendations for improvement, development and/or expansion of the program to ensure proactive response to clients' changing needs

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Services, Humanities, or similar specialization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum of two years' experience in employment assessment, coaching and group facilitation
  • Experience in working with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Canadian Labour Market and employment trends
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant internal and external resources
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated willingness to work in a flexible manner in order to meet shifting priorities
  • Good organizational and time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evening and weekend hours
  • Excellent oral and written English skills are required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Zoom and other internet applications
  • Ability to travel regularly in the GTA required; valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a car is an asset

Location: Scarborough
Salary: $52,000 - $54,000 per annum
Hours of work: 35 hrs. per week. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required (Contract until March 31, 2024)
