Job Summary:

As an experienced and Certified Human Resource Professional, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the effective daily operation of the organization’s Human Resources programs/initiatives. The main focus of this role is to guide and manage the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire organization.

Reports to: Chief Human Resources Officer & Chief Privacy Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that HR department initiatives align with business objectives by identifying solutions and developing strategies; advise managers on how Human Resources can help them achieve business goals
  • Employee relations: develop strong communication plans; help create a positive culture that promotes growth and retention; build and maintain strong relationships with managers and employees
  • HR services: research and stay up to date with current trends in HR services; ensure that HR programs (such as recruitment, talent and performance management) are meeting the needs of the employees and the organization
  • Full cycle recruitment: work with hiring managers to fill all recruitment needs, including such activities as screening candidates, drafting/reviewing interview questions, participating in or conducting interviews
  • Participate in HR departmental planning and projects by preparing recommendations and developing communication materials as appropriate
  • Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel trends and develop recommendations for improvement of human resources policies and practices
  • Partner with leadership and staff to implement and lead HR programs that support and forward the mission, vision and strategic objectives of TCET, ensuring organizational compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations
  • Manage salary administration program and conduct wage surveys within labor market to ensure compliance and equity within organization
  • Prepare reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions and job evaluation process; ensure maintenance of pay equity
  • HR policies: communicate and train managers and employees on HR policies, programs, processes, advise on areas such as compensation, pay equity, employment equity, terminations, job evaluations, and monitor the effectiveness of policies
  • Participate in the development and implementation of effective employment-related programs such as recruitment and resource planning, retention, performance management, employee engagement
  • Identify training and development opportunities for managers and employees; research and develop programs; facilitate training when required
  • Coach leaders with respect to performance issues of staff; lead the annual performance review program
  • Participate in different special HR projects (programs implementation, HRIS implementation, pay equity, salary studies, leadership competency outcomes, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree with a specialization in Human Resources
  • Certification as a CHRP is a must
  • Minimum 2-4 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources Generalist role
  • Extensive Knowledge and experience of job evaluation, classification and pay equity
  • Working experience and knowledge of SAGE AccPac and/or Ceridian Dayforce is a strong asset
  • Good knowledge of statistics and linear regression analysis
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage situations where conflict may arise
  • Knowledge of Proficient in MS Office applications, MS Access, Visio, FrontPage, Outlook, the Internet and HRIS systems
  • Solid knowledge of HR administrative policies/procedures, recruitment and selection techniques, behavioural interviewing, payroll processing, Employment Standards Act, Health and Safety Legislation, and other Employment Legislation
  • Able to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple demands, competing priorities and projects, multi-task and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, facilitation, conflict management, coaching and research skills in order to work with all levels within the organization;
  • Process focused and ability to drive systematic improvements
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail, and
  • Experience in reconciling accounts and reports

This is a Full-time Temporary Position
Start date: December 1, 2016
End date: November 30, 2017
Salary: $45,600 to $50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Mondays to Fridays 8:30am to 4:30pm
