Summary
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Client Services
• Complete client intakes and assessments according to Policies & Procedures
• Provide settlement services, including information, orientation and assistance to IRS clients and students.
• Assists clients in navigating government systems including completing required documentation.
• Implement case management functions through a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination evaluation, and advocacy for services to meet the newcomer’s needs.
• Liaise with Salvation Army ministries, settlement and community groups, educational institutions, mainstream organizations and government departments for up-to-date program and service information related to client needs.
• Working knowledge of immigration regulations and procedures
• Monitor, analyze and interpret the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), related guidelines, and policy or operational changes affecting immigrants and refugees.
• Assist in IRS events
• Provide training on a range of immigration and settlement topics, in person and through online media, to corps and staff including students and volunteers.
• Provide settlement assistance to clients at various satellite offices.

• Travel required up to 50% of the time.
• Create, manage and update different types of social media related to the program such as YouTube and Facebook page.
• Respond to telephone, emails, Facebook messages or other social media inquiries from immigrants and refugees in a timely manner.
• Create informational materials for posting on IRS page and other related websites or e-groups.
• Able to work in a Christian organization and to promote the goals of the Salvation Army, IRS mission and program.
• Acts as a liaison between the Salvation Army church and the clients to assist individuals in achieving personal and spiritual well-being.
• Provide full range of outreach activities maintaining outcome data and statistics. Track client inquiries, identify opportunities, and make recommendations related to improving services.
• Coach placement students/volunteers in the various aspects of training in settlement and immigration matters.
2. Administrative
• Update CMS data on a daily basis.
• Submit timely monthly statistics to Program Coordinator.
• Maintain Settlement Binder up-to-date.
• Keep resource information up-to-date (bulletin board & hand-outs)
• Create and distribute the IRS E-Bulletin quarterly
3. Organizational
• Adhere to IRS & THLM Policies & Procedures
• Participate and contribute to IRS monthly Staff Meetings
• Participate and contribute to IRS planning process
• Represent IRS at THLM Joint Health & Safety Committee
• Attend outside meetings, as assigned
• Other duties, as assigned
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
• Reports to Program Coordinator
• Interfaces with all other staff including Residential Care Workers, Intake, other Counselors, Human Resources, Medical Services, S.A. Officers, Family services Coordinator, etc.
• External organizations and client contacts, including family members, social services organizations, etc.
Governance Boards and Councils: where required
MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
• Reports directly to: IRS Program Coordinator

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
• Social Service Worker Diploma or relevant university degree
• Solid knowledge about the legal implications of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), related guidelines, and other immigration and settlement policies.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
• Minimum 2 year settlement employment experience in a multicultural environment
• Familiarity with GTA community & social services
• Familiar with current Immigration legislation, forms, processes, policies and procedures
• Extensive practice in adult education at both peer and program participant levels
Skills and Capabilities
• Strong verbal and written communication in English
• Creative, self-motivated, good organizational skills, and able to motivate others
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to team work
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Fluency (verbal and written) in a second language
• Ability to create products and services as part of the program outreach strategy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (excel, word, PowerPoint), and social media (Facebook page developer, YouTube channel manager, etc.) tools.
• Experience coaching and training placement students/volunteers in the social services field.
