Position Summary:

The LINC Teaching Assistant provides support to the LINC/ESL instructors with PBLA and program overall, and works with individual students and small groups of students with special needs. Reports to LINC Coordinator.


The LINC Teaching Assistant is responsible for:

  • Providing LINC language training and support to classes and individual students who need extra help under the guidance of the LINC Instructors and Learning Centre Coordinator
  • Support the LINC Department with PBLA implementation activities and targets
  • Assisting LINC instructors in preparing learning materials for students
  • Working with individual students as well as small groups of students
  • Helping instructors in creating a conducive learning environment in the classroom
  • Participating in professional development sessions and actively utilizing information to enhance personal teaching skills
  • Participating in agency events and staff meetings


  • 2-3 years experience working English language learners
  • TESL Accreditation
  • Strong working knowledge of the LINC Curriculum and the Canadian Language Benchmarks
  • PBLA knowledge and experience an asset
  • Ability to work as a team with LINC/ESL instructors
  • Proven computer skills (MS Word, Email and Internet)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a sense of initiative
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultural values and individual experiences
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • A second language considered an asset

This is a full-time position
Hours: 30 hours per week
Expected start date is September 05, 2017
