LINC Instructor
(Full Time / Permanent, 25 hours/week)
About Us
CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status. CCS is seeking a Full Time LINC Instructor to teach English to newcomer learners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a daily class in compliance with Canadian Language Benchmarks and using the PBLA Framework
- Design and provide professional, appropriate and motivational short and long-term lesson plans consistent with accepted teaching methods and the needs and level of the class
- Create lesson plans that are outcome based and have identified measurement processes
- Maintain clear and accurate records of students’ achievements and outcomes
- Incorporate a variety of learning materials into lesson plans to meet different learning styles
- Orient students to portfolios as a learning and assessment tool (PBLA)
- Develop and maintain an anti-bias classroom atmosphere where participants feel welcome and interested in learning
- Combine classroom teaching with computer instruction; apply ESL educational software
- Ensure ongoing attendance and active participation of learners each day
- Collaborate with other CCS staff to ensure LINC participants have access to the full suite of available settlement services
- Complete administrative duties such as client registration and orientation, attendance records, monthly reports and statistical information as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- TESL Certificate from a recognized institution and ongoing membership with TESL Ontario
- Previous successful experience (minimum 3 years) teaching ESL or LINC at various levels
- Excellent lesson planning skills
- Demonstrated experience working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Computer skills with knowledge of ESL educational software, MS Word and Internet
- Comfortable using technology, ability to teach both in an in-person and online environment
- Good knowledge of PBLA, Canadian Language Benchmarks and ability to benchmark students’ progress
- Knowledge of another language would be an asset
- Ability to work independently with solid time management and organizational skills
- Punctual, reliable, disciplined

Class Level: CLB 1-3
Hourly Wage: $38.64 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
Working Schedule: Monday - Friday
