Job Title: LINC Teaching Assistant (till Feb 03, 2023)
Location: Toronto LINC – Online
Job Details: LINC Teaching Assistant (Online LINC Classes)
Work Hours: Variable (6-10 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: $25.44
Status: Unionized

Responsibilities:

• Provide LINC language training and support to classes and individual students who need extra help during online LINC Program delivery and under the guidance of the LINC Instructors and program management;
• Support the LINC Program with PBLA implementation activities and targets;
• Assist LINC instructors in preparing online learning materials for students;
• Work with individual students as well as small groups of students;
• Help instructors in creating a conducive learning environment in the online classes;
• Adhere to the assigned class schedule and work cooperatively with program management, administrative staff and instructors to maintain program quality;
• Abide by the CICS’ support and supervision model by supplying all required materials and working closely with program administrators;
• Assist in program related activities and/or tasks assigned by the program manager.

Qualifications:

• Current TESL Certification;
• Experience in teaching English as a Second Language to adults required;
• Proven ability and experience in teaching high as well as low level LINC or Adult ESL classes a strong asset;
• Good understanding of language training needs of newcomer communities;
• Strong working knowledge of the LINC Curriculum and the Canadian Language Benchmarks
• PBLA knowledge and experience an asset
• Current knowledge of the task-based, communicative and learner-centered approaches to teaching adults;
• Confidence and experience in virtual program delivery is a definite asset;
• Ability to work as a team with LINC instructors and administrative team;
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication skills in English;
• Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of computer assisted language learning software (CALL), Google services, and Outlook;
• Sensitivity to diverse cultural values and individual experiences;
• Vulnerable sector police reference check is mandatory.
