MIAG Centre for Diverse Women & Families is a community organization that works towards an inclusive and resilient community. We strive to enhance the capacity of individuals and families from different ethnocultural communities through empowerment, innovation, and well-being-based programs and services.

Project Description

The project addresses the urgent need for children and youth to be connected and to retain their active live style that was impacted during the past two years due to social distancing caused by the COVID -19 pandemic. Through Youth Connection 101 we will re-connect them digitally through a program that runs on an online platform such as Zoom in Winter and at local parks during Summer time. The program will be delivered by a professional youth couch and workshop facilitator.

This project consists of 7 rounds involving children of 7 - 10 years-old and another 7 rounds to teenagers of 11- 15 years old for a total of 14 rounds. Each round consists of 6 sessions. It will be delivered once/week for each round.


We are currently seeking an experienced individual to coordinate the Youth Connection 101 project. The Project Coordinator is expected to:
● Provide leadership in planning and implementing project activities in collaboration with supervisor, program facilitator and evaluator.
● Develop the project work plan for the project activities including ongoing monitoring of measurement indicators for the outcomes.
● Design promotional materials and outreach by using Canva and Photoshop. Circulate widely promotional materials through MailChimp and WhatsApp. Create social media content and post to various platforms including (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). Reach out to parents from different cultural backgrounds by e-mails, phone calls and other mediums. Represent the program through community outreach and public events.
● Manage the project administration work such as: design registration package, gather information, tabulate data, create participant attendance sheets and track numbers.
● Support the Program Facilitator in the development of program curriculum for children of age (7-10) and (11-15) years old. Children are expected to learn leadership skills such as Teamwork, Problem-Solving, and Public Speaking.
● Involve children and teenagers of newcomer and immigrant families in a digital leadership skills-development training for 6 weeks rounds/ once a week for a total of 14 rounds (8 online and 6 outdoor). This program will involve two age-groups separately (7-10) (11-15) years old.
● Recruit and train volunteers to support in program delivery as needed.
● Assist in obtaining evaluation feedback from the participants from qualitative and quantitative perspectives during all project lifetimes.
● Comply with the organization’s rules and policies. Maintain a positive relationship with the management and other staff members.


● Diploma in administration, advertising, marketing, social service work, public relations, CYC (Child and Youth Care) or related field from a recognized college or institution.
● A minimum of three years of community outreach or social media marketing experience. Proven coordination skills for youth and children’s programs.
● Experience in coordinating online workshops on Zoom
● Experience in producing videos or other media content
● Strong ability to work within a multicultural environment, within an anti-oppression framework.
● Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English. Knowledge of other language/s is an asset.
● Wide knowledge of the available resources, organizations, networks, programs and services pertaining to immigrant and newcomers youth and their families.
● Proven understanding of community development concepts and practices.
● Result-oriented with excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
● Excellent interpersonal skills and business etiquette. Able to work independently and as a team player, work effectively and in harmony with other staff members.
● Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications; online programs, and promotional materials designing software
● A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is a must. The coordinator should be able to attend the office and participate in meetings as needed.
