Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a non-profit agency providing services that assist in the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees. CCS serves all newcomers, refugees, and immigrants regardless of race, religion, age, country of origin, immigration status or political affiliation. This multi-agency Women Support project will provide settlement services for resettled refugee women and their children. Project partners will support service delivery at Ontario Early Years Centres, and facilitate access to specialized services to support women and children. Working collaboratively with partners, the Settlement Worker will develop and implement an outreach plan, facilitate access to wrap-around services, and deliver individual and group activities to engage and support refugee women in their settlement.


  • Provide settlement services, including case management at Ontario Early Years Centre and off-site locations
  • Provide client-centred services including assessment, information and orientation
  • Support refugee women to explore their personal goals, and develop plans to achieve them, while navigating cultural norms and expectations
  • Provide case management and follow-up services to support the achievement of positive client outcomes
  • Develop, document and report on client outcomes
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate group sessions on topics relevant to clients’ settlement needs
  • Track case management activities and data using electronic systems
  • Work with project partners in planning and developing tools, sharing information and other relevant materials as it relates to the project
  • Facilitate appropriate referrals and make deliberate linkages with relevant community supports
  • Share information about targeted programs and services for refugees with the local RAP service provider, and establish a referral protocol
  • Develop and implement outreach plan to inform and engage newly arrived resettled refugee women of available services
  • Conduct outreach to private sponsors, and offer support with addressing the settlement needs of privately sponsored refugees
  • Encourage and support broad based community commitment to welcoming and integrating refugees from all parts of the world
  • Recruit and train volunteers to provide support to participants
  • Participate in regular program, team and cross-agency meetings
  • Prepare and submit statistical and progress reports to supervisor on a regular and ad hoc basis as required


  • Settlement Counselling diploma or equivalent training in the human services field
  • Minimum two years’ work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; Written and verbal fluency in Arabic is required
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities
  • Demonstrated crosscultural communication skills with participants, other agencies and the public
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with other partners and service providers
  • Knowledge of community resources and services in Toronto
  • Interview, assessment, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting
  • Ability to work productively in an MS Office environment
  • Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data collection and reporting
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is an asset
  • A clear, mandatory Vulnerable Sector Screening is required

Hours: 12 hours per week, including evenings and weekends hours
Salary: $28.20/hour plus 4% vacation pay

Location: Scarborough, with some travel within the GTA
