Summary:

Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status. CCS is seeking a full-time (35 hours/week), ongoing contract Settlement Worker, Hungarian speaking to provide settlement information and referral services in Scarborough to immigrants. Written and verbal fluency in Hungarian is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide settlement counselling services, including assessment, information and orientation at both CCS offices and other community locations
  • Assist newcomers to develop personalized settlement plans
  • Provide case management and supportive follow-up
  • Facilitate appropriate internal/external referrals
  • Organize, plan and deliver group sessions
  • Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote CCS programs and services
  • Participate in regular program, team and regional meetings
  • Maintain and update all client information in a customized database
  • Prepare and submit timely statistical and progress reports as required

Qualifications:

  • Settlement Counselling diploma or equivalent training in the human services field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors
  • A clear Criminal Record Check is required
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities
  • Demonstrated crosscultural communication skills with participants, other agencies and the public
  • Knowledge of community resources and services in Scarborough
  • Interview, assessment, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with other service providers
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting
  • Ability to work productively in an MS Office environment
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; Written and verbal fluency in Hungarian is required
  • Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data collection and reporting
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset

Hours: 35 per week, occasional evenings and weekends as required
Salary: $ 52,834.60 per annum plus benefit
Location: Scarborough, with some travel within the GTA
