Summary:
Catholic Crosscultural Services - CCSCCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status. To this end, CCS is seeking one part-time Settlement Worker to provide settlement information and referral services online & in person to LGBTQ2+ immigrants and refugees in Scarborough to aid in their settlement and integration into the community.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop a hybrid online-in person platform and service delivery model to provide services for LGBTQ2+ newcomers
- Provide online & in person assessment, information and orientation
- Use initial assessment of newcomers to develop personalized settlement plans
- Provide case management and supportive follow-up
- Facilitate appropriate internal/external referrals to services to meet client’s need
- Organize, plan and facilitate online and in-person group sessions to address diverse clients’ needs
- Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote CCS programs and services
- Actively participate in regular team and regional meetings
- Maintain and update all client information in the OCMS database
- Prepare and submit timely statistical and progress reports as required
- Meet all program goals as assigned
Qualifications:
- Settlement Counselling diploma or equivalent training in the human services field
- Minimum of 2 years’ work experience working with LGBTQ+ community members in the settlement and/or community work sectors
- Interview, assessment, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of community resources and services in Toronto Region
- Experience with development of materials targeting diverse groups and in multiple formats
- Familiarity with developing and delivering services and training in a web-based environment
- Working knowledge of online program development, website maintenance and trouble shooting
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities
- Through understanding of barriers facing LGBTQ+ newcomers and families
- Demonstrated crosscultural communication skills with clients, other agencies and the public
- Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with community partners
- Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team setting, and independently
- Excellent ability to work productively in an MS Office environment
- Excellent oral and written English skills, knowledge of a second language an asset
- Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data entry/collection and reporting
- Able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends if needed
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset
Hours: 21 hours per week, some overtime hours may be required
Salary: $30,000 - $33,000 annual salary plus benefits (after completion of the required probationary period)
