The Institute of Canadian Archives (ICA) is a social capital building initiative focusing on increasing social cohesion through the art of storytelling. Our mission is to create, curate and celebrate diverse narratives which reflect Canada's intercultural and interfaith harmony.

ICA is a volunteer-run, registered non-profit committed to enabling Canadians in creating, curating, and celebrating narratives around diversity, intercultural harmony, and pluralism. One of our current initiative at ICA is the Hearts and Minds Living Library - H&MLL. This is a unique initiative where a library comes to life. Books are people, who share their stories and life experiences to Readers.

Social Media Coordinator position:

We are inviting a passionate and driven individual to join us as a Social Media Coordinator. This person will help ICA reinforce our existing communications platforms, build on the H&MLL brand, and promote the upcoming September 2017 Hearts and Minds Living Library event. While we will provide training, we love folks who take initiative and seek to innovate within the organization.


  • Drive and manage community engagement across ICA social media platforms
  • Identify and engage financial and capacity-building resources for ICA projects
  • Manage multiple social media accounts to build H&MLL brand and communication
  • Represent ICA at events, and update event calendar reflecting all potential observances
  • Collaborate with the project managers, and the project coordinator to leverage existing resources and build on the H&MLL program
  • Source & create online content. Familiarity and interest with blogs, video production, mailchimp newsletters is considered bonus etc.

This job is made possible by the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, candidates must be students and meet the following criteria:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Starting Date: July 14, 2017
Duration: 6 weeks (30 hours per week)
Salary: $ 11.40 per hour
Location. Toronto
