The Preparing to Work in Canada (PWC) project is a virtual service website that assists selected economic immigrants and their families who are landing in Ontario. Funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, this project will support clients approved to immigrate to Ontario, Canada with pre-employment and employment supports while still in their host country as well as to connect them to resources and supports to advance their employment once they land in Canada. The Workshop Facilitator will deliver a set schedule of webinars/workshops on topics related to the pre-employment needs of clients selected to immigrate to Canada using on-line and web based tools. Workshops are to be delivered mornings, days, eventing and weekends depending on the needs of clients.

Reporting to: Project Manager, Preparing to Work in Canada Program


  • Deliver 1 – 2 hour online interactive job search workshops on pre-employment and employment needs of foreign trained professionals based topics
  • Communicate/Confirm with webinar attendees in advance of the webinar and post webinar for any additional materials or supports as required
  • Liaise with the PrepCan team in making suggestions for additional topics and assist in their development
  • Administer evaluations and feedback from webinar attendants making changes to delivery or content as required to meet client needs
  • Undertake other duties as assigned


  • 2 years’ experience facilitating job search and pre-employment related sessions with knowledge of current job search techniques and career assessment tools, especially as they relate to Newcomers
  • Excellent communication, organizational and teamwork skills
  • Motivational, energetic facilitation style
    • Patience and empathy to meet the needs of Pre-arrival clients with extensive experience delivering sessions to Newcomers to Canada
  • Proficient with online delivery tools such as Adobe Connect
  • Good understanding of job search strategies, career counselling and accreditation, and experience facilitating job search and pre-employment sessions
  • Experience developing curriculum and adapting to meet participants’ needs with a focus on newcomers to Canada
  • Appropriate post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Flexible to work on and deliver webinars in the morning, days, evenings and weekends as required
  • Knowledge of settlement issues is considered an important asset

This is a Full-time regular position (pending funding approval)
Start date: April 1st, 2017
End date: March 31st, 2018
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Hours: 35 hours/week
Annual Salary: $45,500 - $46,173 + Benefits
Location: Mississauga (Sussex Centre)
