June Callwood Award for Voluntarism

If you know an individual or organization dedicated to volunteering in the community, you may submit a nomination for the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism. The nomination deadline is December 5, 2016.

More Information: 

The June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism recognizes individuals and groups for their superlative volunteer contributions and volunteer management in their communities and to the province of Ontario.
The award has two (2) categories:

  • Outstanding Volunteer Award
  • Recognizes an individual or group for their commitment to volunteering and longstanding service to their community. Up to 20 individuals and/or groups receive this award each year.
  • Excellence in Volunteer Management Award

Recognizes an individual or group from an organization that is incorporated as a not for-profit corporation or registered as a charity with Canada Revenue Agency for their achievement in identifying, strengthening, and maximizing volunteer involvement for the purpose of improving the quality of life of individuals and their communities. Up to five individuals and/or groups receive this award each year.

The award is named after the late June Callwood, CC, O.Ont., LL.d.

Ms. Callwood was a Canadian journalist, author and social activist. She committed her life to action on social justice issues, particularly those related to woman and children. She founded, or co-founded, more than 50 Canadian social action organizations.
