Ontario's Government for the People is supporting Indigenous training and employment in Sault Ste. Marie's information technology (IT) sector, creating 57 full-time jobs.
Today, the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, announced PLATO Testing is receiving more than $1.2 millionto deliver IT training focused on preparing Indigenous people to become experts in software testing. The project will create well-paying jobs and fill talent shortages in the labour market.
PLATO Testing was established to bring meaningful employment opportunities to Indigenous people in the IT field. Formed in December 2015 in New Brunswick, the organization's long-term plans include expansion of operations throughout Canada.
