Government of Canada invests in climate change awareness and action project for young Canadians

April 8, 2021 – London, Ontario

Kate Young, Member of Parliament for London West, on behalf of the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, announced that the Government of Canada is investing $5.9 million from environmental fines into Let’s Talk Science. With this funding, Let’s Talk Science will engage over 600,000 youth across Canada in climate science awareness and action through regional events, action projects, hands-on activities and a suite of digital resources, including career information.

WSPS' Health & Safety Awareness Presentation (HSAP) gives students, new immigrants and other vulnerable workers the crucial information they need to ensure their health and safety on the job. Free of charge, these sessions can be presented to classrooms of any size – including general assemblies – and are delivered by trained WSPS volunteers.

Growing ethno-cultural and linguistic diversity among older population groups is an experience shared by countries of immigration like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (U.K.), and the United States (U.S.). These international jurisdictions have introduced a range of national-level or provincial/state-level strategies to address the evolving needs of diverse older populations in their health and social care systems; ranging from the provision of linguistically appropriate resources to enhancing cultural competency of the health and social care workforce.
