Community Integration Worker

The Worker will assist adult newcomers in navigating the justice system and seeking integration or reintegration into the community. Offering tailored services to support individuals involved with the justice system, our overarching objective is to minimize the likelihood of further involvement with legal processes and facilitate their seamless integration into society. Specifically targeting refugees, immigrants, racialized individuals, and their families, our focus is on reducing recidivism rates and ensuring successful reintegration post-contact with the criminal system within the Ottawa region.

Settlement Counsellor

To facilitate and promote the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees through provision of a wide range of vital services to immigrants which incorporates cultural considerations and migration experience. Sensitize the community regarding immigrant needs through cooperative and constructive working relationships and facilitate immigrant access and participation in Canadian civic engagement.

Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO)

The Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) provides settlement service, needs assessment, information and orientation session and service referrals for immigrant and refugee children and youth and their families within Ottawa schools. The MLO collaborates with schools administration and teachers to facilitate cross-cultural communication and ensure student integration and academic success.

Youth Facilitator

BHO’s mandate is to advance education by increasing the public’s knowledge and appreciation of, and carrying out research in the history, culture, traditions and achievements of Canadians of African descent. Through our initiatives, we serve the community by developing and offering programs, open to the public, which focus on areas such as mentorship, youth leadership and health.
