Digital Literacy Instructor (Dari or Arabic-speaking)

This position is responsible for teaching essential digital and computer literacy skills to newcomer adult learners on social assistance at AWO’s Peel location. The candidate must be an experienced digital literacy instructor and have experience working with immigrants and refugees. We are looking for two instructors, one with Dari language skills and one with Arabic language skills. The digital literacy instruction itself will be in English, however some participants may need translation assistance. Each instructor will be responsible for teaching 8 sessions a week, 2.5 hours in length (1.5 instruction and 1 hour of supervising lab time), 4 sessions will be in person at the Mississauga site and 4 will be virtual using a Zoom platform. Most classes will be held during the week in day time hours, however some evenings and/or weekend hours may be required.

Digital Literacy Project Coordinator

This position is responsible for the coordination, including outreach/marketing of AWO’s Digital Literacy project for newcomer adult learners in Mississauga. The candidate must have experience as a project coordinator and have experience working with immigrants and refugees. The project coordinator will ensure that all aspects of the project, including, but not limited to outreach and intake assessment, registration, management of classroom and technology, recruitment and supervision of volunteers, coordination of scheduling with digital instructors, and project reporting are smoothly implemented and completed. The project coordinator will work with the 2 digital literacy instructors and up to 10 classroom volunteers.

Instructor, Language Instruction for Newcomers in Canada

This position is responsible for creating and delivering lesson plans and rubrics for the LINC Program as outlined in the LINC Curriculum and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) Guidelines, in accordance and compliance with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) program funding requirements and guidelines. The incumbent must be able to relate and respond to participants’ needs and tailor classroom activities around these needs in a timely manner, while also providing timely information to the LINC Manager to manage participants’ needs, attendance and Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) advancement.

School Settlement Counsellor - Dari Speaking
