Poverty in Peel: Is it Effectively Addressed for All?

In its 2015 study titled “What are the Hardest Places to live in Canada”, which examined several socio-economic indicators, such as median household income, level of education, food insecurity, and unemployment rate, the Mowat Centre ranked Peel Region as the 12th best place to live out of 117 regions in Canada.(1) This ranking paints a picture of a region whose communities are thriving.

Indus Community Services (Indus) is a non-profit, charitable, community based organization. Our services are non-religious and non-political. Our mission is to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Peel immigrant community, enabling integration and supporting their settlement, social services, health, and educational needs.

Caregivers’ and Seniors’ Workshop Facilitator (Polish speaking)

• Plan, facilitate, and evaluate workshops providing education and information for families, seniors, and caregivers around above mentioned issues
• Network with the ethnic community to publicize the program and recruit participants
• Provide publicity, promotion, and community outreach
• Assist participants to identify their needs and provide appropriate information and referrals as needed
• Provide statistics and reports as required

SAP EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP: Working with SAP

PURPOSE

The main objective of SAP Experiential Workshop Session is to provide career, functional and technical guidance to SAP candidates or resources (Business /IT) during their transition to SAP profession.

All SAP Experiential Workshop Sessions are designed by our Senior SAP Consultants for educational purposes.

The Workshop Sessions are by invitation only and free-of-cost as they are part of our StraTech Program's Not-Just-For-Profit (NJFP) Initiative.

Youth Facilitator (Arabic Speaking)

• Manages and maintains contact with newcomer youth according to program guidelines
• Facilitates and supports newcomer youth
• Provides information and referral to newcomers for appropriate services
• Outreaches at local schools; presents workshops and networks to support recruited newcomers
• Attends and takes minutes at program meetings
• Prepares monthly statistics report, volunteer hours report, etc
• Acts as a group leader, trouble shooter, and problem solver
• Is involved in publicity, promotion, and fundraising
