POSITION: Financial Empowerment Facilitator

REPORTS TO: Outreach and Development Manager

WORK HOURS: 25 hours per week

RATE OF PAY: $ 25/ Hour

JOB SUMMARY:

This Position reporting to the Outreach and Development Manager and the Poverty Reduction Coordinator – works to alleviate poverty and related issues as well as build and maintain relationships across Peel to advance initiatives that address poverty and advocates for change. The incumbent provides overall support to Ontarians living on lower incomes to increase their personal financial management skills through financial education, monthly savings and the attainment of a long lasting productive goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program promotion and recruitment
  • Program delivery: facilitation of money management and other financial related workshops
  • One-on-one financing coaching support 
  • Facilitating project and handling any issues that might arise 
  • Communicate project updates and status to coordinator and manager
  • Create and build relationships with businesses, and community organizations, to grow a mutual interaction related to the projects services
  • Responsible to collect and provide accurate data and reports
  • Assist in developing and delivering orientation sessions, and presentations
  • Ensuring that the client’s needs are met as the projects evolve
  • Ensure agencies and partners are engaged through consistent and effective communication
  • Perform necessary administrative tasks
  • Perform other duties assigned
  • Prepare reports and statistics and analyses related to areas of responsibility
  • Keep track of daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Organize all program data, folders and documents using different tools as defined by the agency policy
  • Provide reports and/or information as required
  • Ensure all communication is clear, accurate, timely and professional in content and presentation
  • Ensure sensitive material is kept secure and handled in an appropriate manner
  • Communicate and follow up with projects staff and volunteers on client wrap-around services
  • Use appropriate communication, methods and actions to establish a courteous and professional working relationship with others
  • Keep abreast of all organizational policies that have been established to ensure support and minimize risk and liability to staff and DBNC
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and pleasant work area and environment
  • Attend all health and safety training (Evacuations, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher)
  • Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and practice techniques for safe physical work requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or certification in a related field, such as social work, adult education, psychology, personal financial planning, business and/or finance.
  • Minimum two years of direct experience in non-profit operations, or other related fields of non-profit management 
  • Excellent facilitation skills rooted in adult education principles.
  • Experience in counseling/case management is an asset. 
  • Completion of the Financial Literacy Training and/or Financial Coaching Training Certificate is an asset.
  • Excellent technology literacy, utilizing modern tools for collaboration, communication, and efficiency. 
  • Self- motivated and passionate about creating an inclusive economy and reducing poverty
  • A passion for gender, racial, economic and social justice, along with a commitment to DBNC's mission, vision and values.
  • Outstanding client service orientation, with the ability to diffuse tense situations
  • Superior interpersonal skills, able to interact with all levels in a professional, positive manner, able to build trusting relationships and be a team player
  • Excellent, effective communication skills, both oral and in written format, creating and delivering presentations and workshops
  • Strong decision-making skills and effective at problem-solving and negotiating resolutions 
  • Excellent time management, organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and follow up
  • Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to change
  • Sensitivity to people from different socio-economic backgrounds 
  • Must be able to work in a virtual and in-person environment from a variety of locations within the Peel Region
