Job Title:

Summer Youth Program Worker (Scarborough) 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

·       Support Immigrant Youth Development: Assist youth aged 6-24 with academic and social development, focusing on improving social, leadership, and employment skills while increasing awareness of community resources to enhance their well-being.

·       Program Facilitation and Evaluation: With guidance from a mentor, design, organize, facilitate, and evaluate group sessions and workshops tailored for newcomer youth.

·       Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks, including monitoring client statistics, outreach (via email and telephone), filing, shredding confidential documents, and data entry using the OCASI Client Management System (OCMS).

·       Client Services: Provide high-quality customer service by offering interpretation, translation, or referrals to help clients overcome barriers related to language, culture, race, or class.

·       Database and Reporting Support: Help update client databases, prepare statistical and financial reports, and maintain records in a professional and timely manner with mentorship.

·       Outreach and Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to multicultural immigrant, at-risk, and low-income youth in York Region, staying informed about community resources and government policies to support effective client referrals.

·       Youth Program Monitoring: Monitor program activities, track attendance, and identify youth requiring additional support during or after programs.

·       Collaboration and Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote CICS's mission, values, programs, and services.

·       Youth Participation and Feedback: Develop and implement strategies to engage youth, gather feedback on programming, and improve services through surveys and other feedback tools.

·       Case Management Shadowing: Observe Youth Workers during client registration, needs assessments, and case management sessions to gain insights into effective service delivery.

Required Qualifications: Post-Secondary

Language required for the position:  English

Terms and Conditions:

  • Salary: $17.20 per hour
  • Hours of work: 35 hours per week
  • Number of weeks: 8 
  • Anticipated Start date / End Date: June 02 to July 25, 2025

Applicant MUST meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;
  • International students are not eligible.
