Salary: $17.60 per hour (35 hours per week | 11 weeks contract)

Scope
Support LINC instructors in delivering effective and engaging English language instruction to adult newcomer learners. Assist with lesson implementation, student onboarding, classroom organization, and the use of technology to enhance the learning experience.
11 weeks Contract starts from May 19, 2026 – July 15, 2026. After the LINC break, contract resumes from August 10, 2026 – August 21, 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support LINC teachers by following their guidance, lesson plans, and implementing teaching strategies
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students by following the teacher’s lesson plan and instructions
- Support participants in conversation circles
- Assist with setting up classroom materials and maintain an organized learning environment
- Help students with onboarding, including registration support, class orientation, and technology setup (email, Zoom, Avenue LMS, etc.)
- Support students and Polycultural clients in using digital tools for learning, offering hands-on guidance when needed
- Encourage student participation and foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere
- Assist in managing attendance records, distributing handouts, and collecting assignments as needed
- Translate or interpret basic classroom instructions for students with limited English proficiency (if applicable and language skills permit)
- Support instructors during classroom activities, such as group work, discussions, and practice exercises
- Help prepare visual aids, worksheets, and interactive materials as directed
- Attend staff meetings or training sessions as required

Qualifications
- Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Eligible applicant must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Successful vulnerable sector police check
- Experience working in an educational or settlement environment is an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong digital literacy and confidence using platforms, such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems (Avenue)
- Ability to support diverse learners with patience and clarity
- Highly motivated, personable, and well organized
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
- Fluency in English & Arabic and Dhari, Farsi, Pashtu
Other requirements
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check must be completed prior to commencing employment
