Summer Students Program

  • Support in facilitating and developing summer camps for school-aged children
  • Provide support for children with special needs, such as one-on-one support
  • Assist and support the camps through program planning and execution of the camp activities
  • Ensure the safety of children
  • Teach and coach children through tasks and activities (i.e. arts and crafts, sports, games, etc)
  • Maintain positive and sustainable professional relationships with internal and external partners, including parents and children
  • Communicate and interact with clients, staff, and community partners
  • Communicate with team members and participate in regular meetings to plan and discuss camp content
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education (ECE) (preferred) or a related field such as Child and Youth Studies, Education, Community Services, Recreation, Social Work, Arts, or Psychology
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with newcomer families and other professionals
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task and set priorities
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Skills and abilities to plan and organize activities for children
  • Skills and interest in art, culture, sport, drama and/or science
  • Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Internet and the knowledge of children educational software(s).
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion, and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of diverse newcomers
  • Police Record Check for Vulnerable Sector is required as part of hiring process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; other language skills will be an asset

All eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • Must be available to work Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00AM and 7:00PM
  • Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and
  • Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

*Foreign / international students are not eligible.

These positions are for duration of 8 weeks, students must be available to start working on July 6th, 2026 until August 29th, 2026

Students must be able to work in MCS Brampton North Location

If selected, students must be able to commit for the entire duration of the contract without any requests/requirements for time away from work.

NO VACATION TIME WILL BE APPROVED FOR SUMMER STUDENTS

Rate of Pay: $17.60 per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation
