The Digital Leadership Program is a skills‑training initiative designed to support newcomer women in developing digital competencies, leadership capacity, and sector‑relevant workplace skills. The Digital Skills Instructor plays a key role in delivering high‑quality, employment‑focused digital training to ensure learners gain hands‑on experience with advanced digital tools used across the healthcare, nonprofit, and retail/small business sectors. The programming will be delivered in a hybrid format, with some components online and others delivered in the classroom. 

This is a part-time contract position scheduled to work 5 hours per week, for 8 weeks over 5 cohorts from April 6, 2026, to March 31, 2027. (Tuesday and Thursday between 12:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.)

DUTIES

  • Adapt and deliver digital skills training modules, including:
    • Project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana)
    • Spreadsheet and data management tools (Excel, Google Sheets)
    • Workplace communication and collaboration platforms (Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
  • Conduct needs assessments to tailor instruction to learner goals and digital proficiency levels.
  • Design module plans and lessons based on learners’ needs and skill level in support of the overall course curricula.
  • Prepare guides, and digital handouts for learners.
  • Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles, literacy levels, and digital comfort levels.
  • Create real-world case studies and sector relevant projects to reinforce applied learning.
  • Provide individualized technical support, coaching, and troubleshooting during in-person and virtual sessions.
  • Support clients when accessing online learning materials and resources.
  • Monitor and document learner progress, participation, and skill development.
  • Assist with outreach activities to support learner recruitment as required.
  • Report to the Program Manager, sharing updates, concerns, and instructional insights.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1 year of experience providing adult instruction or training in digital tools, office applications, or technology-enabled workplaces.
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams)
    • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
    • Collaborative tools such as Slack, Zoom, or other project management software
  • Experience delivering hands-on training, demonstrations, and practical exercises.
  • Adult education certification or technology training certification is an asset.
  • Microsoft Office software or trainer certification is an asset.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs and digital literacy levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment with adult learners.
