Who is a Peer Champion?

A Peer Champion is someone who is passionate about taking action against domestic violence. You don't have to be an expert, just have a desire to make a change for the better. You can apply as an individual, as part of a team, or as a representative of an organization.

What Do Peer Champions Do?

Peer Champions take on the role of holding two educational events in immigrant and refugee communities about domestic violence over the course of a year. It is a flexible role that allows you to be creative and design your own events, with support for the Campaign Coordinator.

What Supports Do Peer Champions Receive?

Peer Champions with the IRCNFF Campaign receive training, resources, and ongoing support from the Campaign Coordinator.

They will also receive an honorarium to support their work.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

OCASI is looking for 20 Peer Champions from diverse regions of Ontario. Peer Champions must be part of an immigrant or refugee community. All genders are encouraged to apply - we are hoping for at least 8 to 9 Peer Champions to be from areas outside the GTHA this year. We are also prioritizing applications from Indigenous Communities, the LGBTQAI+ community and the (dis) ability communities.
