September 20 is coming. We need your organization at the table.
Invitation to GTA Strategy Meeting: September 20 Cross-Country Day of Action
July 16, 2026 | 2pm or 6pm | RSVP NOW!
This fall, the federal government will make major decisions about the future of immigration in Canada. Parliament returns September 21. The immigration levels plan is expected by November 1. Now is the window to act.
On Sunday, September 20, Migrant Rights Network is calling a cross-country day of action to demand equal rights and dignity, and to reject exploitation, deportations, racism and migrant scapegoating.
This will be our fifth consecutive year of national demonstrations. Last September, together with the Draw the Line coalition, actions took place in more than 70 cities, including a march of thousands in Toronto. This year, we want to make it bigger.
We are inviting migrant and immigrant rights groups, settlement organizations, refugee rights groups, climate and anti-war organizations, labour unions, housing, healthcare and education groups, and all social movement allies to a meeting to plan the September 20 mobilization in Toronto.
Meeting details:
Virtual, two sessions - pick whichever works for you:

Our ask, and the plan for the meeting
The most important ask is simple: mobilize your members. Bring your people.
We want to hear directly from you about what would make this action genuinely inclusive of your membership, what we are missing, and what would help your base show up.
At the meeting, we will walk through why this action matters, the initial plans for September 20, and how your organization can take part.
We will also discuss the broader rise of racism, xenophobia and migrant scapegoating, and the need for mass public education, including events, before and after September 20.
