Healthcare Connect – Supporting Internationally Educated Health Professionals in Ontario
HMC is proud to launch Healthcare Connect, a program designed to support Internationally Educated Health Professionals (IEHPs) as they navigate their career journey in Canada. This initiative helps bridge talent gaps in the healthcare sector while enabling newcomers to put their skills and experience to work.
Who Can Join
Healthcare Connect is open to participants who:
- Are a Permanent Resident, Naturalized Canadian Citizen, or Convention Refugee/Protected Person
- Hold an international healthcare degree, diploma, or certification
- Have education, training, or work experience in healthcare/healthcare support outside Canada
- Meet CLB 7+ / IELTS 6.0 English requirements
- Reside in Ontario
Professions supported include, but are not limited to: physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, lab/radiology technologists, physiotherapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and more.
Program Services
Healthcare Connect offers a range of supports to help IEHPs succeed in the Canadian healthcare system:
- Career exploration & planning – one-to-one guidance for career goals
- Job search support – resumes, interviews, LinkedIn, networking
- Workplace readiness – understanding Canadian workplace culture, employer expectations, and professional communication
- Technical training – CPR-BLS, Phlebotomy, IM injections, and more
- Credential recognition & licensing guidance – including IMG study groups
- Mentorship – guidance from Canadian healthcare professionals
- Wage-subsidized work placements – practical experience in healthcare settings
How You Can Support
Settlement workers, employers, and community members can help IEHPs succeed by:
- Referring eligible clients through the Healthcare Connect registration form
- Sharing the program flyer and webpage with your networks
- Encouraging IMGs to join HMC’s free MCC QE1 & NAC OSCE study groups
- Connecting HMC with healthcare employers open to hiring IEHPs with wage subsidy support
