In this webinar, participants will gain an overview of the evolving labour market landscape and explore how service providers can better support newcomer women impacted by gender-based violence (GBV) in accessing employment and training opportunities. This webinar will focus on the evolving labour market landscape and how service providers can better support newcomer women impacted by GBV navigating employment while facing intersecting barriers such as disrupted career histories, limited credential recognition, language challenges, precarious immigration status, and trauma-related interruptions. Participants will gain insights into key employer priorities, emerging opportunities in high-demand sectors, and strategies for helping job-seekers build confidence, skills, and professional networks.
About the facilitators:
Esin Turhan is a Toronto-based Corporate Fundraising, Workforce Development, and Career Advancement Professional. She holds a Master’s in International Development and has built her career around newcomer services, upskilling, and job search coaching. Her work with refugees at the United Nations shaped her focus on immigrant employment and career development in Canada. Today, she collaborates closely with leading tech and finance companies to gather real-time insights on employer priorities, hiring trends, and the evolving job market, informing programs and diverse talent entering the workforce. She also provides tailored one-to-one and group coaching to individuals navigating a new job market.
