Building Multicultural Communities (BMC) is a charity established in 1987 that provides settlement and social services to newcomers, immigrants and the larger community in the Peel Region. Our mandate and core business is to enable less advantaged individuals, families and groups in the community to reach their full potential, enhance their life skills, and create a better future. BMC has a variety of specialized programs that cater to specific demographics and focus on providing different services such as (Settlement, Mental Health, Youth Development, Employment, and Seniors Support) making BMC a one-stop-shop for needed services. As a Mentorship Coordinator, you will provides intensive one-to-one mentorship to participants referred from Probation and Parole. Focuses on relationship-building, accountability, pro-social modelling, and entrepreneurship coaching, reinforcing the structured oversight led by the Case Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Case Manager during intake and support individualized participation plans aligned with probation expectations and program goals
  • Coordinate all program logistics: schedules, room bookings, attendance management, incentives, refreshments and accessibility accommodations
  • Recruit, screen, orient and support credible‑messenger mentors; match mentors to participants and monitor engagement quality and boundaries
  • Ensure weekly one‑to‑one mentorship occurs (approx. 45 minutes per participant) and aligns with service plans and workshop content.
  • Track program metrics: participation rates, mentorship hours, goals achieved; maintain accurate case notes, data entry and documentation
  • Participate in case conferences as required and communicate mentorship-related updates to the Case Manager for coordination with Probation/Parole.
  • Coordinate guest speakers and entrepreneurship supports (e.g., Hamilton Business Centre); organize pitch showcases and the annual micro‑grant competition
  • Facilitate Steering Committee meetings (lived‑experience advisors) and integrate feedback into iterative improvements
  • Escalate safety concerns, crises or complex barriers to the Program Manager; implement agreed risk mitigations
  • Completed intakes and individualized plans for all enrolled participants each cohort.
  • Accurate, timely data entry and quarterly reporting packages for the Ministry, including pre/post self‑report measures and referral outcomes
  • Mentor roster established and maintained; orientation/professional development delivered at least once per cohort
  • Successful execution of each pitch showcase and coordination of year‑end micro‑grant selection.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager; Case Manager/Facilitator; mentors; admin support; finance for incentives tracking.
  • Collaborate with probation & parole; community centres/libraries; Hamilton Business Centre/SBEC; employment and training partners; housing, mental health and addictions services.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
  • Any other duties related to this position
  • Reports to Executive Director or his/her designate 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Degree or diploma in Social Services, Criminology, Community Development, Business/Entrepreneurship or related field
  • 3+ years in case management and coordination with justice‑involved or high‑risk youth/young adults.
  • Experience recruiting and supporting mentors/volunteers; skilled in boundaries, ethics and lived‑experience engagement.
  • Strong operational coordination, documentation and data management; proficient with MS Office/SharePoint/Excel trackers.
  • Knowledge of CBT, RNR and GLM; familiarity with entrepreneurship ecosystems and small‑business supports
  • Strong documentation, communication and engagement skills with diverse communities
  • Demonstrated skills in case management, assessment intervention, and advocacy
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining high level of accuracy in data collection
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work with diverse people and communities with awareness to socio-economic and cultural barriers
  • Capability to handle multiple priorities with ease and professionalism; able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication (oral and written), Social Media skills (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.) and Web based databases.
  • Lived experience with the justice system or significant barriers to employment is considered a strong asset.
  • A criminal or other federal offence record does not automatically disqualify you from the position. We consider each situation based on the position's responsibilities
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check prior to start.
  • Must have own transposition, driver license and insurance to use your vehicle for job related travelling
  • Ability to work some evenings/weekends; local travel between delivery sites. 

Location: 

Hamilton and Halton Region including itinerant community sites (primary delivery)
