Various approaches to support newcomer youth have shifted over the past two years in response to COVID-19, policy changes and global events. This workshop will look at some of the highlights and challenges as we explored the new landscape of working with diverse populations of newcomer youth while updating OCASI's Supporting Youth Newcomer Communities online module. We will emphasize how foundational concepts such as youth engagement, trauma-informed approaches, and anti-oppression have become increasingly valuable within our current context. The workshop will engage participants in these important conversations and offer tools and ideas to inform professional practice.
