Position Summary

Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto is seeking a dynamic and organized Project Lead to support the successful delivery of the BuildHERFuture project, an initiative dedicated to advancing women’s participation and success in the construction industry through credentialing, mentorship, skills development and hands-on experience. 

The Project Lead will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing project-related events and activities, including community consultations, project information sessions, and public summits. Reporting to the Manager, the ideal candidate is proactive, community-driven, and comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders. This role requires strong organizational skills, an understanding of the construction sector, and a commitment to gender equity and inclusive employment strategies.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan and coordinate logistics for project activities such as information sessions, outreach events, community consultations, and project summits.
  • Facilitate and host engaging events that promote the BuildHERFuture project and create opportunities for stakeholder engagement and knowledge exchange.
  • Support the development of outreach strategies and materials to attract and inform potential participants, partners, and employers.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure timelines, goals, and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate event calendars, records and reporting documentation.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external community organizations to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Support ongoing engagement with employers, industry professionals, and community stakeholders connected to the construction industry. 
  • Monitor and report on project activities, outcomes, and participant feedback to inform continuous improvement.
  • Represent NEW and the BuildHERFuture project at relevant sector events, meetings, and conferences across Ontario.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and promotional materials for events and project milestones.
  • Ensure a client-centered and equity-informed approach is integrated across all project initiatives.

Position Minimum Qualifications 

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in Project Management, Community Engagement, Social Work, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience coordinating community-based projects or events.
  • Strong knowledge or connection to the construction sector and its employment pathways are required.
  • Experience in community consultation, stakeholder engagement, and event planning.
  • Knowledge of the newcomer settlement and Employment Ontario sectors with a good understanding of challenges faced by prospective immigrants, newcomers to Canada, women, and youth.
  • Excellent organization, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities and deliver inclusive programming.
  • Knowledge of training programs, funding support, and relevant government services.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Ontario. A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the project.
