Virtual Roundtable Series in Five Cities - Toronto

Description:

OCASI The Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants is pleased to announce a Virtual Roundtable Series in Five Cities on: “This was already a crisis”: Intersectional impact of COVID-19 and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) against non-status, refugee and immigrant (NSRI) women across Canada.

COVID-19 has opened the window for necessary political and social change. To be responsive to the changing realities and needs of our communities and partners, we are organizing a series of roundtables focused on the intersectional impact of COVID-19 on racialized non-status, refugee and immigrant women across Canada.

We invite community members, service providers, organizational leaders, advocates and NSRI women to join our upcoming conversations across five regions: Edmonton, Fredericton, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. We want to share and learn with you!

Toronto - Thursday, July 30, 2020 - 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST)

Let’s learn from each other, as we share our findings from meetings and gatherings with community members, services providers and NSRI women across Canada. Let’s talk about the immediate ways we can address issues at the intersect of COVID-19 and GBV, and let’s continue to think of the important advocacy and preventive work that will need to follow when we go back to “normal”.

This national project is led by OCASI in partnership with Barbra Schliefer Commemorative Clinic, Islamic Family and Social Services Association, Immigrant Women Services of Ottawa, The Migrant Mothers Project, MOSAIC, New Brunswick Multicultural Association, Rights of Non-Status Women Network and the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton.
