Immigration Appeal Division to Pilot the Use of Videoconference for Remote Testimony

In March 2017, the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) will be launching a six-month Remote Testimony by Videoconference Pilot Project in its Central (Toronto) regional office to provide counsel with the opportunity to use videoconferencing services to have appellants, applicants or other witnesses testify in selected sponsorship or residency obligation appeals.

Short-term Temporary Resident Permit for Travellers Prevented from Entering the United States

Officers who are conducting assessments of foreign nationals who are citizens of Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq and who are seeking to travel to the United States from Canada but are refused entry due to the U.S. Executive Order entitled “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States” may consider issuing a short-term temporary resident permit lasting up to 180 days.
