For Clients: Oral Hearing via Zoom on the Lack of Accessible Housing in Canada

The National Housing Council in collaboration with OCASI is inviting newcomers with lived experiences of disability, chronic illness, mental health challenges, or other accessibility needs to participate in an upcoming: Oral Hearing via Zoom on the Lack of Accessible Housing in Canada

This oral hearing is part of a national review examining the lack of accessible housing nationally and its impact on people with disabilities, chronic illness, mental health challenges, and other accessibility needs. Join us to share your experiences and help shape recommendations to the federal government on improving accessible housing for newcomers across Canada.

Who is eligible to participate?

Newcomers with disabilities who have lived experiences. Your lived experience matters in understanding first-hand the barriers to finding safe, affordable, and accessible housing. Your voice is essential in shaping recommendations that reflect real needs and drive meaningful change in housing.

  • Selected participants will be contacted by OCASI’s Accessibility Initiative team.
  • Limited spots available.
  • An honorarium of $58 per hour for full participation in the event.

ASL and simultaneous English ⇆ French interpretation will be provided.

N/B: The deadline for the written hearing has been extended to June 22, 2026. We encourage organizations and individuals to make a submission through: https://nhc-cnl.ca/review-panels/written-hearing
