
Introduction to Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression (ARAO) Policy Implementation
- Session 1: Introduction to Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression - A Guide to OCASI’s ARAO Kit and Organizational Practice
The first session is open to everyone. Whether you are familiar with anti-racism and anti-oppression, have questions, or want to learn more about ARAO, we encourage you to attend this presentation. The session will introduce foundational and critical perspectives on ARAO, focusing on how it relates to OCASI’s ARAO Kit and organizational practices. We will consider the importance of ARAO policies and why they continue to be necessary.
- Session 2: From Learning to Action - Workshopping ARAO Policies
The second session From Learning to Action: Workshopping ARAO Policies, is an opportunity for participants to workshop ARAO into organizations focusing on policy alongside others. We will workshop one to two sample policies. Participants will work in small breakout groups and return to the larger group for sharing and discussion. The session is only open to those who attend the first session and will be limited to 30 participants. Registration for this session will open on May 14th.
Presenter and Facilitator
Asha Edwin. Asha is a dynamic interdisciplinary researcher, an anti-racism and equity consultant, and a yoga and wellness practitioner. She has worked with various community partners and organizations on topics related to anti-racism, equity, and community development. Asha is currently a graduate student at Brock University, where her research focuses on movement and sport, wellness, culture, community engagement, and social impact.
