Presenter: Dr. Dan Hiebert, Professor of geography at University of British Columbia

Dr. Hiebert will present:
- The multiple challenges of Covid globally and nationally
- The impacts of Covid in Canada and on Canada's capacity to admit temporary migrants and permanent immigrants
- Exploring recent data on this issue--what does migration to Canada look like in the age of Covid?
- Canada's new immigration plan and what it implies for the immediate future and the post-Covid era
Daniel Hiebert: is a Professor of Geography at UBC who specializes in issues of public policy. Professor Hiebert’s personal research interests focus on immigration policy, the integration of newcomers into the housing and labour markets of Canadian cities, and the consequences of the growing ‘super-diversity’ of Canadian society. This work routinely takes a collaborative approach, working with partners in government and non-government organizations.
