As the federal government unveils its latest immigration levels plan, what do the new targets mean for Canada's immigration system and the organizations responsible for welcoming and integrating newcomers?

Join us next Friday, November 13th, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM EST as ACS-Metropolis President and CEO Jack Jedwab and former IRCC Deputy Minister Catrina Tapley examine how to interpret the announced levels, including changes in permanent and temporary immigration, the distribution of admissions across immigration categories, and the implications for settlement services, funding, organizational planning and community capacity. Particular attention will be given to the distinction between immigration targets and actual demand for services, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing service providers in a changing policy environment.

The discussion will also consider an important shift in Canadian public opinion: recent ACS–EKOS research and other national surveys suggest that public opposition to immigration levels is softening after several years of growing concern. What does this changing public sentiment mean for immigration policy, public expectations and the future of Canada's settlement and integration sector?
