This is a Union contract position scheduled to work 35 hours per week.
The incumbent is currently on leave till December 31, 2024.
DUTIES
- Deliver a client-centered service model to support Government Assisted Refugees (GAR) in the first 12-to-18 months upon arrival in Canada.
- Provide case management services through the use of assessments, information and referral, accompaniment, home visits, and follow-up and advocacy to assist clients to live independently and integrate successfully using anti-oppressive and empowerment-based practices.
- Provide individual, family and group support to clients according to level of needs and language.
- Provide information and referral to a wide array of community agencies, professional services, settlement and social services, etc. across the Greater Toronto Area.
- Liaise and advocate with community agencies in the areas where GAR clients live in order to bridge the services needs of this population.
- Maintain thorough documentation of client cases according to nationally established standards for the CSS program, using case management software.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual service and statistical reports according to the program and funder requirements.
- Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the program on an on-going basis, recommending service delivery changes to supervisor and assisting with their implementation when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-Secondary Degree in Social Services, or equivalent. Social Work Degree (such as a BSW or MSW is an asset).
- One (1) year experience working with refugees, survivors of torture, persecution, war or abuse.
- Must be fluent in English. Must be able to speak one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashtu, Somali, Tigrinya, Oromo, Swahili and any Berber languages.
- Knowledge of anti-oppressive and empowerment-based practices with refugees, survivors of torture, persecution, war or abuse, including with women and LGBTQ folk.
- Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills.
- Previous case management experience.
- Knowledge of specific issues facing resettled refugees in general and the Resettlement Assistance Program more specifically.
- Knowledge of settlement, community and government services and resources, with an emphasis on the services and resources that exist within the Greater Toronto Area.
- Knowledge of Internet, Email and Windows software e.g. Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated experience in data-entry, documentation, and reporting.
- Must have access to a car and be able to drive to various locations across the GTA (including the municipalities of Toronto, Peel, Halton, Durham, and York) on a daily basis.
- Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
- Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to request information establishing the validity of the exemption.
**Hours of work shall be scheduled in accordance with Article 12.01 and shall consist of five (5) seven (7) hour days, Monday to Friday.

DURATION: November 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024
SALARY RANGE: $53,796 - $56,399 per annum + benefits
