Many people who seek to immigrate to Canada or obtain citizenship rely on immigration and citizenship representatives for guidance. To protect newcomers and applicants, and uphold the integrity of our immigration system, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is implementing enhanced measures to ensure that these services are provided ethically and professionally.
As part of this commitment, IRCC is introducing, through regulations, a regime of administrative penalties and consequences for people who break the rules when providing paid advice or representation on immigration or citizenship applications. This new regime will include a review process, where a person has the right to ask for a review of the penalty and consequence that has been imposed on them.
IRCC have relaunched a selection process to fill two part-time Reviewer positions in preparation for the coming-into-force of the regulations, anticipated later in 2026. Ideal candidates will have experience in decision-making on complex, sensitive issues and demonstrate proficiency in interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and directives. This is a virtual position open to candidates across Canada.
