The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) was created in 1999 when Revenue Canada was reorganized into the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, later renamed CRA in 2005. Its origins trace back to 1867 with the Department of Inland Revenue and the Department of Customs, which evolved through multiple mergers and restructurings.
