About This Event

The overall objective of this hybrid collaborative event is to support settlement service providers in strengthening collective responses to gender-based violence (GBV) while connecting this work to a broader national community of practice (CoP) across organizations and community partners.

The event aims to deepen understanding of how gender-based violence intersects with settlement experiences, particularly for non-status, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer women. It will highlight survivor-centred, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and anti-racist approaches while also creating space to discuss community-based research, peer leadership, practical tools, and referral pathways.

Session 1: Collaboration for Impact: GBV and the National Community of Practice.

Session 2: Empower Change Hub: Tools for GBV Prevention and Community-Led Change.

Session 3: KAFA: Community-Driven Research on GBV in Canada’s Arab Communities.

Session 4: Discussion and Reflections: From Shared Learning to Collective Action.
