Beyond Resettlement: Advancing Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Support Systems: Centering the Experiences of Yazidi Women Survivors

OCASI - Initiative to End Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cordially invites you to participate in the upcoming virtual roundtable: Beyond Resettlement: Advancing Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Support Systems: Centering the Experiences of Yazidi Women Survivors.

We invite you to join a virtual roundtable focused on strengthening support systems for Yazidi women survivors in the Greater Toronto Area. This roundtable will explore barriers Yazidi women may face when accessing gender-based violence, mental health, and settlement services, and seek to identify ways to strengthen culturally responsive and trauma- and violence-informed supports.
We are looking to bring together service providers, settlement workers, mental health professionals, community organizations, and community voices to reflect on service gaps, share emerging practices, and explore how systems of care can become more responsive to survivors navigating complex resettlement and healing journeys.

Join us to:

  • Gain insight into the experiences and service needs of Yazidi women survivors.
  • Explore culturally responsive and trauma- and violence-informed approaches to supporting survivors.
  • Reflect on barriers to accessing settlement, mental health, and community services.
  • Exchange ideas on strengthening survivor-centered support systems.

If you have any questions, please contact Nissaba Hido (she/her) at: nhido@ocasi.org
