Webinar on Managing Employer Conversations in the Settlement Sector

Employer facing staff across the settlement sector are navigating increasingly complex conversations. These conversations often require balancing employer needs, shifting labour market realities, and at times difficult or biased perspectives on immigration and hiring.

This  training session is designed to support you in that work.

Led by RADIUS at the SFU Beedie School of Business, this session will equip participants with practical tools, language, and strategies to confidently manage challenging employer conversations while staying focused on shared workforce outcomes.

What you will gain:

  • A structured Employer Response Framework that can be applied in real conversations
  • Practical scripts and strategies to respond to difficult or biased comments
  • A stronger understanding of employer pressures and motivations
  • Tools to support your wellbeing while doing this work

This is not a general EDI training. It is a practical session grounded in real scenarios faced by employer engagement professionals, drawing on concepts such as interest convergence, conflict engagement, and regulation strategies.

What is included:

  • A live 2.5 hour interactive webinar
  • A participant workbook for reflection and exercises
  • A take home Employer Response Toolkit for ongoing use
